Terms of Service
- Last updated: 2026-05-23 -
By accessing or using Splaylist (the "Service") at splaylist.app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What Splaylist does
Splaylist is a tool run by an individual developer that lets you:
- Convert any public Spotify playlist or album URL into a Google Sheet in your own Google account (no Spotify login required for public URLs).
- Sign in with Spotify to also load your private playlists and your saved library.
- Build Session Views — reviewer-ready pages where you can collect 1–5 ★ ratings, comments, and owner notes on each track, then share the page with collaborators via an unlisted link.
- Export a Session View back to a Google Sheet (including ratings/comments) as a meeting-ready document.
There is no commercial relationship between Splaylist and Spotify, Google, or YouTube.
2. Accounts and authentication
- You can use most public-URL features without signing in. To create or own a Session View, save Sheets to your Google account, or load private playlists, you sign in through Spotify and/or Google's official OAuth flows. Splaylist never sees, stores, or asks for your passwords.
- Both providers may be linked to the same Splaylist account once the relevant identity scopes are granted. See Privacy Policy §1 for details.
- You are responsible for keeping your own Spotify and Google account credentials secure.
- You may revoke access at any time (see the Privacy Policy for instructions).
- Reviewers who post ratings or comments on a Session View are not required to sign in — they identify themselves with a display name stored locally in their browser. Reviewer identity is intentionally separate from any signed-in account; see Privacy Policy §15.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service.
- Use the Service to scrape mass amounts of data, build a competing index, or violate Spotify's or Google's API terms.
- Use the Service to infringe copyright or other intellectual-property rights.
- Use the Service for any unlawful, harassing, or fraudulent purpose.
4. Third-party services
Splaylist relies on the official APIs of Spotify and Google. Their respective terms apply to your use of those services through Splaylist:
5. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. Spotify or Google API changes may cause features to break temporarily.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will the operator of Splaylist be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profit, or service interruption.
7. Termination
We may modify, suspend, or terminate the Service (or your access to it) at any time, with or without notice, especially if we believe you are violating these Terms or applicable third-party terms.
Account deletion. To delete your account and associated data
(Sheet history, Session Views, ratings, comments, and related metadata), please
email info.splaylist@gmail.com.
We typically respond within 7 business days.
8. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts located in Japan.
10. YouTube API Services
Splaylist relies on the
YouTube Data API v3
to display direct YouTube watch links on Splaylist view pages. By using
Splaylist, you agree to be bound by the
YouTube Terms of Service
and the
YouTube API Services Terms of Service.
See our Privacy Policy §13 for
how Splaylist handles YouTube data, including the 30-day cache TTL required by
YouTube ToS Section III.E.4.
11. Plans, pricing, and limits
Splaylist offers two tiers:
- Free. Suitable for everyday reference work. Limits: unlimited active Session Views (each kept for 30 days from last activity), with up to 5 Sheet exports per month. Public Spotify URL conversion to CSV / Sheet is unlimited.
- Pro. For ongoing professional use. Indefinite Session View retention while your subscription is active, larger export quota, and access to the audit log for meeting deliverables. Pricing and the exact quota are listed on the Pricing page.
Quotas may change as we tune the service; material changes will be announced under §8 with at least 30 days' notice. Plan downgrades from Pro to Free do not delete your existing Session Views — they are simply read-only until you remove them or upgrade again.
Material changes to paid plan limits will be announced at least 30 days in advance and will not reduce benefits already paid for during the current billing period.
12. Intellectual property
- Your content stays yours. By submitting content to Splaylist, you give Splaylist a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, display, transmit, reproduce, and process that content only as necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and provide the Service. Track titles you import, owner notes you write, ratings and comments posted on your Session Views remain owned by the original poster.
- Reviewer comments and ratings remain owned by the reviewer who posted them. When a Session View owner exports a Session View to a Sheet, reviewer names, ratings, and comments may be included in the export. Reviewers acknowledge this possibility by posting content in any Session View.
- Source material. Spotify track/album metadata is owned by Spotify and its rightsholders. Splaylist displays it through Spotify's official APIs in accordance with Spotify's developer terms. Album cover thumbnails shown alongside tracks are served from Spotify's CDN.
- "Made with Splaylist" credit. Default Sheet exports include a small credit line; you can disable it for white-labeled deliverables (see the export options). Doing so does not transfer Splaylist's own trademarks or branding.
- Downstream sharing. When you, as Session View owner, share the Sheet export, you become responsible for how reviewer comments are redistributed downstream. Splaylist provides the tools but does not control redistribution outside the Service.
13. Developer mode transparency
Splaylist is currently registered with Spotify in developer mode. Private Spotify features (e.g., loading your private library or unlisted playlists) are limited while we are in developer mode, and only allow-listed accounts can use them. Public Spotify links do not require Spotify login and are not affected by this limitation — they are fetched server-side via the Client Credentials Flow described in Privacy §14.
When Spotify upgrades us to production mode, this section will be updated and the limitation removed. We deliberately do not quote specific quota numbers in these Terms to avoid stale figures; the latest status is announced on the About page.
