Terms of Service

- Last updated: 2026-05-23 -

By accessing or using Splaylist (the "Service") at splaylist.app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What Splaylist does

Splaylist is a tool run by an individual developer that lets you:

There is no commercial relationship between Splaylist and Spotify, Google, or YouTube.

2. Accounts and authentication

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

4. Third-party services

Splaylist relies on the official APIs of Spotify and Google. Their respective terms apply to your use of those services through Splaylist:

5. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. Spotify or Google API changes may cause features to break temporarily.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will the operator of Splaylist be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profit, or service interruption.

7. Termination

We may modify, suspend, or terminate the Service (or your access to it) at any time, with or without notice, especially if we believe you are violating these Terms or applicable third-party terms.

Account deletion. To delete your account and associated data (Sheet history, Session Views, ratings, comments, and related metadata), please email info.splaylist@gmail.com. We typically respond within 7 business days.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts located in Japan.

10. YouTube API Services

Splaylist relies on the YouTube Data API v3 to display direct YouTube watch links on Splaylist view pages. By using Splaylist, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and the YouTube API Services Terms of Service.

See our Privacy Policy §13 for how Splaylist handles YouTube data, including the 30-day cache TTL required by YouTube ToS Section III.E.4.

11. Plans, pricing, and limits

Splaylist offers two tiers:

Quotas may change as we tune the service; material changes will be announced under §8 with at least 30 days' notice. Plan downgrades from Pro to Free do not delete your existing Session Views — they are simply read-only until you remove them or upgrade again.

Material changes to paid plan limits will be announced at least 30 days in advance and will not reduce benefits already paid for during the current billing period.

12. Intellectual property

13. Developer mode transparency

Splaylist is currently registered with Spotify in developer mode. Private Spotify features (e.g., loading your private library or unlisted playlists) are limited while we are in developer mode, and only allow-listed accounts can use them. Public Spotify links do not require Spotify login and are not affected by this limitation — they are fetched server-side via the Client Credentials Flow described in Privacy §14.

When Spotify upgrades us to production mode, this section will be updated and the limitation removed. We deliberately do not quote specific quota numbers in these Terms to avoid stale figures; the latest status is announced on the About page.
